Peranakan designs refer to the distinctive visual styles and decorative elements traditionally associated with the Peranakan culture — a unique cultural blend that emerged from the intermarriage of Chinese immigrants and local Malays. The term Peranakan is often used to describe the Straits Chinese or Baba-Nyonya community.
